POST 7: CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

When I went to study design, I knew that the study program was new, therefore, I had no references if it was a good or bad study plan.

Now that I have been in my degree for three years, I have realized the number of shortcomings it has and the uncertainty that many of us have at the time of graduation.

First, I find that it would be a very good idea to have some subject’s online mode, because there are courses that it is not necessary to be in the faculty to learn about them, in addition the classes are recorded and it is easier to consult if something is not plain, also from this in this way we would save travel time.

Secondly, I would like us to have a greater choice of elective subjects, when we study design, we must choose whether to be Industrial Designers or Graphic Designers, so the elective subjects change and each one chooses what they like the most or believe that they are it can serve you in your training. What is currently happening is that these subjects are not enough, they are repetitive and there is not a great variety.

And more in general about the career I find that five years is a lot, in other countries university careers last only three years and it is more than enough, the workload at our university is sometimes excessive, and mental health happens to a second flat, graduating from university colleagues with serious problems of insecurity, anxiety among others.

As for the infrastructure of our faculty, it is terrible, almost everything would change, the rooms are small, without ventilation, in winter some rooms get rained, we do not have spaces to study, and the library is very small. The food casino does not have a great variety, if you are a vegetarian the only option is to order French fries with fried eggs.

Another problem that we have in our faculty is that they do not give us the licenses of the programs that we must use, such as Rhino, Photoshop, Illustrator among others, being of great difficulty for us to obtain these programs, it is the least that the university should offer us to be able to perform as students.
